Mutant melons

Here's a healthy cantaloupe vine with fruit (left) and the mutant vine/fruit (right) for you to compare and contrast:

The fruit took a bean shape and never grew very big.

But it still tried to do its thing with orangey goodness ripening inside.

It has now joined the collection of fallen fruit in the compost bin.
