This design will be called chain mail. It was harder than I thought to take photos where the color was reasonably lifelike and image is crisp enough for the stitches to be seen.
Next version will be larger, both looser on the neck and longer. I'm intrigued to see what it looks like because this one has hints of pink in the yarn, but there's blue and green next time.
